Featured Chip
If you wondering what I would consider my "Holy Grail" of chips, well here you go. All props to CasinoRarities.com for the pic.
The Golden Nugget opened in 1946 so lets put things in perspective. $100 was a lot of money back then (still is!). Now you don't just bring home a "C-note" chip unless you either:
are quite wealthy,
or
you had a great run at the casino.
Most folks didn't collect chips back then, unless they were $1 or $5, and even then they weren't the most attractive chips.
Look at this thing! It's black (my favorite), with a sm-key mold (very nice), a die-cut metal inlay (uncommon and subject to tarnish). It is simple...it is elegant...it is striking...and it is the only one known.
I would give up most of my chips to have the chance to add this beauty to the rest of my Golden Nugget collection.
