One of the things I enjoyed as a child was sitting down to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parades. I really liked William Conrad as the host for the CBS show.
So today, as I sat down with the kids to watch the festivities, I was frosted to see all of the other stuff that filled the parade time...the dancing, singing...etc. Not that these folks weren't talented, I wanted to see the balloons, bands, floats and so on. I realize this is the way its been done for the last few years but that doesn't mean I have to like it. It seems that if it doesn't contain a lot of hoopla and flash, no one will watch.
Call me old-fashioned, but I would rather see a marching band that worked hard to earn enough money to march at Macy's than see a production that's not much more than a commercial for some Broadway show.
