This past week saw an unusual occurence in my home town. I knew they were coming, and the air was electric with anticipation mixed with a little bit of fear.
Late Sunday evening it happened...
The Rotting Corpses descended upon Louisville!
Zali,Foul, Hurtz, Drclal, Bigcee, Omegaosmin gathered at my place for 2 days of food, drink (not you Big!!), games, and good times. Yes, we even got online occasionally to check into the game...just to make sure Azeroth was ok while we were not there to keep an eye on things...damn gnomes were running rampant all over, I'm sure.
So yes, we brought it all on ourselves, and are the better for it.
Folks who do not play WOW, simply do not understand the concept of the social engagement of the game. While the majority of the time is spent questing, working professions, jumping into battle, and downing bosses...the rest of the time is spent in varying forms of chat, be it party, guild, raid, battleground, and personal whispers. Adding voice chat simply adds to the engagement and you can really get to know people as you play.
With social networks, we can see pics and get an even better idea of the people we spend so much time with online.
BUT...
Getting the chance to actually meet with each other...trade hugs, eat and just lounge around...puts everything together. These are powerful emotions we are talking about.
Folks who do not play WOW, simply roll their eyes, oblivious to what I'm talking about. My friends here say I need to get out and meet "real" people. While that may be a good thing, I want to meet people on my terms, hell I'm sniffing 50 and I've earned the right to do things the way I want. The people I've met throught the game have gone through a long process by me and I associate with those who I feel comfortable and confident with. A safe environment is available to all of us, and there are some I spend a "lot" of time with doing a variety of things.
Besides, after dealing with I have to on a daily basis at work...I'm pretty tired of "RL" interaction at the end of the day.
Folks who don't play WOW, simply don't know what they are missing...it's much more than just a game.
After playing this game off and on for 5 years, I have been immortalized in digital media. A tale told by an enemy rogue who I some fun with while toasting his comrades.
Good times!
The old Community site will be unable to use soon, so I have enclosed the entire post.
Thanks to Dullblades...an Alliance rogue who got sheeped (kittened?) but not killed. /Salute

This is the story of the bravest horde mage in all of stormrage. 4:00am all of orgrimmar was napping (zzz) BUT NOT THIS BAD MOFO (AWWWW YEAAAAA). She had the urge (URRRRRRGE!!!), the power (THE POOOWWAAAHH), and the sexiness (SEXY... probably a dude IRL but you still DON'T GIVE A DAMN) to fight for wintergrasp! Lo and behold she got in that bad mamma jamma only to find she was the only one to queue up. Even with all her comrades being lazy peons she was not phased!
It was 1 horde against 20 alliance.
The allies stormed to the towers knocking them out left to right all the while the mage stood at spawn kickin it with Murp (*waves 3rd arm). A lone rogue pops out of the blue dancing and HOT DAMN SHE WAS PISSED (pew pew). Empowered by tenacity her strength quadrupled and ARCANE FURY was unleashed upon the ally rogue ( >:O). Cloak of skill saves the day / vanish ( ._. ). By this time every spot was checked except spawn thus the alliance rushed forward to batter the lone enemy and deter her from ever coming back again. A warrior screams "I 'ALMOST' FEEL SORRY ( >:[ ).
Siege machines charge upon the spawn. Murk lets out a despairingly, flabber gasted "ahh shhiiii-" but before he could finish rolling the words off his stitched tounge (*PEWPEWPEW!) all the vehicles went boom. Clo finally had an outlet for all her misguided rage (YAAAAAAAAY!!!) and Murk lets out an excitingly, flabber gasted "AUWWWWWWWW SHHHHHEEEEETT :D". Pairs by pairs of alliance charged at the mage but she took a majority of them down with her godmode like power. All the while the ally rogue was sitting stealthed at spawn eating pop corn (*nom). Then the ally started to play dirty against the lone hordie. Death grips negated her blink! (NOOOO!) Pallies bubbled making her attacks futile! (BOOOOO!) She had no other option but to melt their faces with arcane explosion. She was gravely injured from her ordeal and more were coming her way (Gasp!). Just as she was nearing her spawn, a warrior charged her and unleashed a brutal assualt .... The warrior grining with certainy that he would be the one to fell this forsaken foe... :.[
The mage's panic slowly turned to confidence, the warrior's blissful frenzy quickly turn to an insatiable NERD RAAAAAAAAAAGE! (fffffff) The wintergrasp spirit healer protected her from further harm. And with that, the most epic fist bump happened between mortals and rezers. The warrior refused to believe this lone mage would survive his ambush! He pulled out all the tricks, shattering throw, spell reflect, his boot... it is here, he would die an angry young man feeling nothing but cheated of his kill. He mad ( x.x *plop) it's sad. But no second thoughts were given by the mage ( *cheering) our hero would paint the battlefield a beautiful dark pink with the slush and blood of her opponents,
Sparing the next 10 minutes relieving her pent up aggression and twisted humor upon those foolish enough to come within 40 yards, an ally rogue pop'd out of the blue again at arms length /dancing with the mage. The rogue expressed his admiration of her tenacity to stand alone against 20 opponents. In turn, she turned him into a kitty and ate his pop corn... (^._.^) then started to dance. DK's and other still attempted to rip her out from the shield but they just got pushed back or killed in the process. And here the battle ended. Our hero dancing with a goofy rogue. Though the timers ran out and the fortress belonged to the alliance, the mage flew home a victor and secret hero to the horde. Though she was out numbered and alone, she came for the sole purpose of killing and torturing the smoothskinned alliance. For funsies ( ^.^).
Wheres our hero now...?
She died...
for being undead... on top of our dead auctioneers! ^.^
The end.

Well, I still play WOW, just not as much as I used to. Dark Retribution pretty much phased out as a guild and most of the folks I've played with for 3 years have moved on to other servers or other games. I joined Shattered for about a month then one night almost all of the top level players left. That kinda sucked. So, I followed them to Vendeada. This is a much larger guild and they are into 25 man content...not end game stuff, but they're working toward it.

Anyway, we (the kids and me) got together one night for a "family portrait". Emma has a lower level toon now, and even Mary Beth has a character...but she never plays...that would be a lot of fun...oh well.
Here's the pic.
Now, here is another shot of just me. The server was lagging horribly tonight and I was stuck in a cast, so I ran around Orgrimmar and took a bunch of screenshots, just for kicks. I like this one, even though it's a bit dark. It has lots of action.
